Chris Cousins Golf About Us

Chris Cousins is a PGA Class A Professional based at Bentham Golf Club, North Yorkshire. He was born in Bolton and stared his golfing life at Westhoughton Golf Club. From here he joined Worlsey Golf Club, Manchester, where his father Ceri was club professional. As a junior golfer Chris played for the county of Lancashire and played in many national golf competitions.

Chris turned professional at 18 and embarked on the 3 year foundation degree programme with the PGA at BirminghamUniversity. During this time he played professionally, playing in PGA North Region, Exel Tour and Challenge Tour events.

During this time Chris was starting his coaching career by teaching at Worsley Golf Club. In June 2007 Chris moved with his father Ceri to Silverdale Golf Club, Lancashire where he continued his role as a teacher. Around this time, Chris started working for Gareth Benson, the Lancashire county coach, at Astley Golf Centre, Manchester. Chris spent the next 18 months coaching full time, learning as much as possible from some of the most respected coaches in the area. In July 2008 he completed the foundation degree with the PGA and was awarded Class A member status.

In November 2008 Chris took over from Alan Watson as PGA Professional at Bentham Golf Club. Chris is responsible for booking visiting parties, co-ordinating open competitions and overseeing the day to day running of the golf shop at Bentham Golf Club. In addition, he provides first class golf tuition as well as acting as co-ordinator for the junior section. Chris lives with his fiancé Gemma in Low Bentham, North Yorkshire.

2000 – 2003 – Played for Lancashire boys

2004 – Turned professional and started PGA Foundation Degree

2005 – Played PGA North Region, Exel Tour and Challenge Tour events

2006 – Completed UKCC level 1 coaching course

2007 – Completed UKCC level 2 coaching course

Completed first aid course

Completed child protection and good practice course

Started coaching at Astley Golf Centre and Silverdale Golf Club

2008 – Completed PGA Foundation Degree

Awarded Class A member status by PGA

Appointed PGA Professional at Bentham Golf Club
